THE DIAGNOSIS
Ever since the U.S. Supreme Court decision on Roe vs Wade, a large part of the Christian Church has hung its credentials on the cause celebre of anti-abortion activism. Why?
Because of assumptions. Not biblical teaching, but assumptions. ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT WHEN HUMAN LIFE ACTUALLY BEGINS. Assumptions about what actually constitutes human life.
The result is now a concrete mind-set in religious thinking that ignores real-life experience and accredited scientific discovery. This mind-set is always broadcast as the settled will of God as revealed in the Bible. IT'S GOING TO COME AS QUITE A SHOCK TO DISCOVER THAT THE SO-CALLED BIBLICAL FOUNDATION FOR THIS MIND-SET DOESN'T EVEN EXIST.
As the investigation unfolds, we discover that if you go to the Bible with a pre-determined belief, you will search out scriptures that will aid you in confirming that belief. It becomes a self-reinforcing delusion. Now add in the endorsement of highly respected social and church leaders and before you know it you have a man-made, dogmatic, fundamentalist teaching on your hands.
This hasn't just led to chaotic judgements where the mother's life is pitted against the foetus. it's affected social policy, court rulings, international development and political strategy.
THIS IS A HOUSE OF CARDS. REMOVE ONE SUPPORTING MEMBER AND THE WHOLE STRUCTURE WILL COME CRASHING DOWN.
No stone is left unturned as this story unfolds. It may seem overly dramatic to say so but the impact of this exposure can and will have global implications.
